Benjamin Franklin was one of the US's founding fathers. He was also a scientist, inventor, mathematician, and diplomat. He was governor of Pennsylvania for 3 years, and was the ambassador to France. He published several journals, including Poor Richard's Almanac and the Pennsylvania Gazette. He is best known for his discovery of electricity by means of a kite.
